Coins & Currency - Other
(Wants)
A177-10: 10 cent coin from Kelly AFB (aluminum)
A177-100: 1$ coin from Kelly AFB (aluminum)
A770-10V: 10 cent coin from Wakkanai Air Station - Wakkanai in large letters (copper/brass)
A770-25V: 25 cent coin from Wakkanai Air Station (copper/brass)
A770-100V: 1$ coin from Wakkanai Air Station (copper/brass)
I am currently seeking U.S. Military Tokens, specifically those used in NCO clubs. These are NOT challenge coins. These were coins issued as credit for service men for use on foreign & domestic bases. I have (3) coins from Wakkanai Air Station in Japan (1) in a 5 cent denomination, and (2) in 10 cent denomination which appear to be copper. I have (3) coins from Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. (2) in 5 cent denominations, and (1) in 25 cent denominations which are aluminum. These (6) coins come from my father's small coin collection. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 until 1979. These coins are not dated but I would guess by the operations of Wakkanai those coins would have been issued in the very late '60s or during the '70s. I am currently looking for coins from bases and air stations that my father would have been deployed at, for example: Lackland AFB, Misawa AB. I will update his base listings in the near future.
I also have (1) coin from the 90th Replacement Battalion Camp Alpha Danang Vietnam in 5 cent denomination and would have been produced in the late '60s, during the war. I purchased this coin from ebay.
I have a currency note issued in 1970 from the NCO Open Mess at Misawa Air Base (I have yet to determine the legitimacy of this note). It shows "One Hundred" as well as "100", but does not state if that is supposed to be equivalent to $100 U.S. dollars. It resembles monopoly money in color and design, yet it is the same shape and size as a standard U.S. Treasury bill.
I also have a $10 serialized Chit Book complete with all chits in all denominations from 5, 10, 25 cents. Issued for the NCO Open Mess at Moron Air Base in Spain.
